About Us
A Safe Place for Animals & the People Who Love Them
We’re not just a shelter—we’re a lifeline. Founded in 1896 in Auburn, New York, we began with a single horse-drawn wagon and a vision of a more humane world. We do everything we can to show up with care, patience, and practical help. We serve Cayuga County and the surrounding areas. People come to us looking for hope—for second chances, for guidance, and that’s exactly what we offer.
Our Mission
Alleviate suffering, improve conditions, & prevent cruelty to animals.
Our Vision
Create a positive world for animals and humans through the power of kindness, compassion, and honesty
The Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York operates as a fully independent humane society. We are not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other humane society or animal welfare group, and we do not receive government funding at the city, county, state, or federal level. The vital programs and services we provide—rescue, medical care, adoption, education, and outreach—exist solely because of donations from generous individuals, businesses, and foundations in our community.
