Working Cat & Shadow Cat Program

Two unique adoption paths for cats with special lifestyles.

Not every cat is meant to curl up on your couch—and that’s okay. Our Working Cat and Shadow Cat programs give less traditional feline friends a chance at a better life, while helping you in return. Whether you're looking for a natural rodent deterrent or a quiet companion for your resident cat, we have cats ready for the job.

What are Working Cats?

Our Working Cats are experienced, independent outdoor cats who thrive when given a space to roam and a job to do. They’re ideal for:

  • Barns & stables
  • Farms & vineyards
  • Garages & auto shops
  • Breweries & warehouses

These cats are natural hunters and great at rodent control. Many come from feral backgrounds or have lived most of their lives outdoors. They’re not looking for cuddles—but they will patrol your property like professionals.

What are Shadow Cats?

Shadow Cats tend to be shy, reserved, or under-socialized. Many have come from hoarding situations or environments with little human contact. They may not seek out attention, but they often find comfort in the presence of other cats.

These cats do best in quiet homes with other feline friends. If you have a social cat looking for a buddy—or simply want to give a forgotten cat a second chance—our Shadow Cat program might be the perfect fit.
